If you have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) or lupus, an autoimmune disease that attacks various parts of the body, about half living with lupus may go on to develop a serious complication called lupus nephritis. Lupus nephritis can create serious health problems, cause permanent damage to the kidneys, and can even lead to kidney failure.
