Latina Star Becky G Reveals How She Deals with Anxiety During Her Appearance on the Jay Shetty's Podcast

Jay Shetty’s podcast, “On Purpose,” has been a hit this year. Many other celebrities and public figures including Tom Holland, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Kevin Hart, Matthew McConaughey, and President Joe Biden have made guest appearances. Shetty’s goal for the podcast is to make wisdom go viral in an accessible, relevant, and practical way. Ultimately, he and his guests share their life experiences regarding common topics such as mental health, life choices, and mindset. His latest guest was Becky G — and gave his audience an insight into how she nurtures her mental health. From providing tips on what she does to overcome her anxiety to becoming vulnerable about reactions she’s had while working, this episode proves the importance of opening up.

Becky G’s Appearance on Jay Shetty Podcast

Becky G, 26, is a global superstar a multi-platinum, award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress. The singer has a long list of achievements including four Latin Grammy nominations, four number-one hits on the Billboard Latin Airplay Charts, and her debut album Mala Santa is certified as 8X Platinum in the United States. More recently, This Becky G released her new single “ La Nena,” giving a preview of her anticipated album ‘Esquinas’ which is set to be out on October 1st. 

The Latina guest’s appearance on  Jay Shetty’s podcast was a memorable one. She wasn’t shy about being open about her struggles with pre-show panic attacks and overcoming anxiety. The Mexican-American artist also shared about moments where she had “full-blown tears” and that she “[couldn’t] breathe,” before heading on stage.  

“The body keeps score of all of what you go through. If you don’t allow your body to feel [everything] somatically … That was the manifestation of the panic attacks and things like that,” she said during her with Jay Shetty for “On Purpose.” “Anxiety and depression are not the diagnosis, they’re the result of [something].” The 26-year-old singer shared that she has gone to therapy and it has helped tremendously in dealing with anxiety.   

This isn’t the first the superstar has spoken about her struggles with mental health. In 2019, she shared how the impact of touring affected her physically and mentally. Still, Becky G’s therapy has seemed to do the trick. She has shared how her outlook on life and herself has changed.

“It makes me very proud of myself to know that I can look at myself every day in the mirror and say, ’I know it’s going to be really hard and it’s going to be challenging and there’s going to be things that trigger a response from you, maybe that is second nature. We are going to take time to process. We’re gonna add some filters in your process that are better for you.’” 

Becky G briefly mentioned some methods that have helped with her mental health. For example, she works out, meditates daily, and goes on week-long social media detoxes once a month. She goes to the extent of deleting the social media app on her phone, claiming it is “super helpful for me on the mental side.”   

As you can see, anxiety comes in all forms and sizes. Even stars like Becky G aren’t immune to it. It is common and many people deal with it every day. Do you have any methods or tricks that have helped you overcome anxiety or panic attacks?
