Jessica Alba is opening up about her relationship with her daughters and how therapy has helped.

Jessica Alba, 42, was a household name in the early 2000s, starring in numerous action and thriller flicks like Fantastic Four franchise, Into the Blue, Sin City, Awake, and others. Alba is now a mom of three, with two daughters, and a son. She has been open about her family’s mental health in the past, but now is appearing on the cover of REAL SIMPLE’s first ever “Feelings Issue” for their January/February edition.

REAL SIMPLE is a magazine that features articles on homemaking, childcare, cooking, and emotional well-being.

How Alba Came to the Decision

“Honor was probably 11, and we were arguing all the time about dumb stuff. And I was like, ‘I don’t want to live like this. This is not fun,'” Alba shares.

“I didn’t want us to have a wedge between us. As her mother, when I say something, she’s going to hear it as an argument or as me trying to control her. I wanted there to be someone who could explain things in a way I couldn’t,” she continues.

“What I said to Honor was, ‘I want to be a better parent to you, and this is your forum to basically talk about everything that gets on your nerves that I do.'”

The actress said it wasn’t long until both tried therapy.

“It put me in check. Like, ‘Yeah, I totally do that. And I’m sorry. I’m going to work on that.’ It gave her a little bit of perspective too—that I’m not the bad guy; I’m just being a parent,” Alba says.

“She’ll come out the other side of it, and I’ll still be here. I just wanted to get to that point, and it worked,” she said. “And the therapist allowed me to see that it’s natural for kids to disagree with their parents and as a parent, it’s not always about being right or rational in that moment.”

Jessica Alba’s Family

Outside of her daughter Honor, 15, Alba shares Haven, 11, and Hayes, 6, with her husband Cash Warren, 44.

Recently, the actress took a trip to Disneyland with her family to celebrate her son’s 6th birthday. In the Instagram post, Alba and her family smiled in front of the iconic castle.

“Celebrating Hayesie’s birthday with the homies @disneyland! ☺️🎟️🎢🫶🏽 #Disneyland #ThisIs6” the photo was captioned.
