Big Bang Theory star Kate Micucci announced she is officially cancer-free. 

 

Micucci who played Lucy on the CBS sitcom, shared a health update after she was diagnosed with lung cancer, despite not having a history of smoking. The 43-year-old actress and comedian posted the news on TikTok

“Hey everyone! I just wanted to thank you all so much for the good wishes and all the love that I have received this past week,” she said. “It meant so much to me and really came at a time that I really needed it so thank you.”

 

In the video, Micucci told her fans that she is cancer-free after a successful surgery. 

 

“I have great news, which is that I am cancer-free!” she said. “The surgery last week went great. All the reports came back that it worked, I don’t need to do any other treatment. So big thank you to all my doctors and nurses and everyone who took just really great care of me. And thanks to figuring it out early because I am very very lucky, and I know that.”

 

“I’m just really grateful that things worked out as they did,” she continued. “I’m feeling really good today and I’m honestly just so excited and truly grateful. So, thank you all for all the prayers and wishes. I’m just glad I can report some good news to you.”

Micucci finished the video by adding how excited she is to “hang with my little boy for Christmas.” A moment later, her 3-year-old son ran up to kiss her. 

 

Micucci joined the fan-favorite sitcom during the show’s sixth season. She has also worked on Till Death, Raising Hope, and Scrubs. Micucci also has worked in voice roles including Scooby-Doo and Steven’s Universe. 

Lung Cancer

Lung cancer is one of the top-killing cancers in the United States. About one in five cancer deaths are from lung cancer. Although smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, non-smokers can be diagnosed although rare. 

 

According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer for people who do not smoke can be caused by secondhand smoke, air pollution, or other factors.
